Seeds Community Café
At Seeds Community Cafe’, we believe that everyone has the right to have access to a fresh, healthy, locally-sourced meal, regardless of their ability to pay. It is our mission to fight food insecurity, strengthen the local food movement, and educate our community about making healthier food choices.
In the community café model, there are no prices on the menu. Our guests have three options to pay for their delicious meal: pay what you think is a fair price for a healthy entrée as well as a soup/salad and beverage: add a few dollars more so that we can continue to fulfill our mission; or volunteer an hour of service in exchange for your meal.
We believe that a hand up, not a hand-out, allows people to begin to own their lives again. We provide this opportunity to exchange service for a meal in an atmosphere of inclusion and dignity. We are not a soup kitchen; food has the power to change lives and healthy, fresh food is truly empowering.
We are donation-based and volunteer driven. And though we have other programs in place that serve to support the Café (The Local, our food truck; our Sustainable Catering program and our Healthy Cooking Classes, for example), there is no denying that sometimes we can get into financial straits if traffic in the Café is slow. At those times, we rely upon grants from foundations, businesses and private benefactors.
We can’t thank the employees of Alorica and the MLBA program enough. Your donation and support came at a time when it was sorely needed and gratefully received. Thank you again!
Thanks;
